So you’ve decided to buy a tattoo! You clearly want it to be important. Some of the most creative and thoughtful tats come from something as personal as your birthday. To be exact, your zodiac sign. Here is a list of what each zodiac sign stands for and the standard characteristics that belong with each of them.
Aquarius (January 21 to February 19)
AKA “The Water Carrier”
The symbol for Aquarius is two squiggly lines that appear to be waves. The favorable personality traits for those born under the sign of Aquarius are independence and sincerity. Other traits include a person being friendly, loyal, original and intellectual. Aquarius’ are inclined to be quite gently in the way that they regard others. Some bad traits the follow Aquarius’ include being erratic, argumentative, and dispassionate.
Pisces (February 20 to March 20)
AKA “The Fishes”
The Pisces symbols looks like a capital “H”, but it is actually two fish. Positive attributes for Pisces people are compassion, sensitivity, kindness, and good common sense. This makes for a great friend and good tattoo should you wish to display it. Negative traits for the Pisces sign are the tendency to be cowardly, unclear and mysterious.
Aries (March 21 to April 20)
AKA “The Ram”
The Aries sign is actually the first sign in the zodiac year and therefore means for “new beginnings”. The ram is customarily brave, excitable, and quick-thinking. Unfortunately, Aries’ can also be self-centered, impatient, and easily angered. The symbol for Aries is meant to signify the ram’s horns. It looks almost like a “Y” or a curly “T”.
Taurus (April 21 – May 21)
AKA “The Bull”
People born under the sign of the bull are apt to be quite strong! That’s because they tend to be tolerant, loving and persistent. In addition to, they have unequaled willpower! But they also tend to be very jealous and controlling. The Taurus sign looks like an “O” with two “horns” on top, just like a small bull.
Gemini (May 22 – June 21)
AKA “The Twins”
The symbol for Gemini represents twins, and so it has two lines that most resemble the Roman numeral for the number two. Since the sign coincides with Mercury, most Gemini’s display energetic and youthful personalities. Other positive qualities are versatility, wit and being communicative. Negative traits include anxiety, inconsistency and the tendency to be rather superficial.
Cancer (June 22 – July 22)
AKA ‘The Crab”
Some traditional traits for those born under the sign of Cancer are protectiveness, imaginative and cautiousness. On the other hand, this sign is not as distinctive as all the others. While one Cancer may be a brilliant thinker, another may be rather dull or even on the verge of being very boring. Bad qualities can be moodiness, clinginess and tendencies to be overemotional. The symbol for Cancer looks like two sideways number nines.
Leo (July 23 – August 22)
AKA “The Lion”
Most Leos tend to be incredibly kind, which makes them good friends and people you would want to have around you. Other distinct positive qualities are obvious friendliness, creativity, and loving personalities. Lions can also have grand and dominant personalities (to their disadvantage), which makes sense because the Lion is the “king”. The Leo sign is difficult to describe, but most closely resembles a cursive “n”.
Virgo (August 23 – September 23)
AKA “The Virgin”
The zodiac sign of Virgo is the only one in the calendar which is represented by a woman. Good qualities that go with Virgos are that they are humble, shy, and diligent. Many Virgos are very practical in their everyday lives. Bad traits include being too conservative, insensitive and quite particular. The symbol looks just like a fancy capital “M”.
Libra (September 24 – October 23)
AKA “The Scales”
The best things about Libras are their endless desire for peace. They will constantly avoid quarrels and most of the time don’t take sides. More redeeming qualities many Libra’s have are being romantic, easygoing and very sociable. Rather bad traits can be indecisiveness and gullibility. Also, the “scales” are the only inanimate object used in the zodiac calendar.
Scorpio (October 24 – November 22)
AKA “The Scorpion”
Scorpio’s are very much like their animal symbol. They are determined, passionate, and powerful. Scorpio’s may appear to be calm on the outside, but they tend to be fiery underneath and sometimes harness anger inside. Other negative traits are compulsive, mysterious and resentful personalities. The symbol looks a lot like Virgo’s, but this “M” is sharper, therefore more masculine.
Sagittarius (November 23 – December 21)
aka “The Archer”
Optimism should be every “Archer’s” middle name! For the most part, Sagittarius’ have happy, good-humored and philosophical personalities. The symbol is quite simple, as it’s simply an arrow shape. Negative characteristics of many Archers are inattention, irresponsibility and restlessness.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 20)
aka “The Goat”
Capricorns tend to be the most reserved and serious of all the zodiac signs. They are also normally even, careful and determined. However, they can be quite negative and are apt to hold grudges for long periods of time. The sign for Capricorns looks interesting; it resembles the number “7? and “6? combined!
