Top Tattoo Styles

Tattoos come in a big selection of design variations and sizes. The reasons behind getting tattoos may be mixed, the design choice is varied too, but there are several that stand out. These designs usually end up in a tattoo artist’s most requested pile. Below, in no particular order, are some of today’s most common tattoo styles. As a side note, my favorite tattoo book is Chooper Tattoo.

Tribal – During the past few decades, tribal tattoo designs have risen in the ranks and has turned out to be, and for many tattoo artists, the most requested tattoo design sort ever. The designs for tribal tattoos are inspired by aboriginal tattoo types from round the world. Of all tribal tattoo designs, Maori inspired types seem to be the most popular. I have found a few good Maori designs in Tattoo Fever Ultimate Tattoo Design recently too.

Kanji – These are tattoos done in Chinese lettering. This is most general amid people getting their first tattoos. They would have their name translated and have the Chinese depiction of their name tattooed on their body. Symbols representing fire, breath, air, life, heart, etc. are also popular.

Stars – For one reason or another, stars have developed into the most highly requested tattoo design ever. It may be that stars are simple sign and are straightforward to create. Nautical stars appear to be the most sought after. Star clusters have also become exceptionally popular.

Roses and Hearts – Flowers are a popular tattoo design request, but of all flowers, roses stand out.. In the same degree of recognition as the rose is the heart. Often, these two are used jointly.

Barbwire – When it comes to band tattoos, barbwire are the most trendy. It is common to find barbwire tattoos around the wrists, ankles, or legs. These designs also accent or border more elaborate tattoos.

Butterfly – This is especially trendy amid the ladies and is usually regarded as a feminine symbol. This is often placed on an obscure part of the body – the nape, the lower back, or someplace obscure. Flowers and fairies are trendy among girls too, although, these two are a favorite of men as well.

Knotwork and Crosses – Knotworks are popular due to their intricate concepts. When it comes to religious symbols, crosses are popular.

Tattoo designs in receipt of an honorable mention include the constantly popular name tattoos – be it a name of a loved one or a stranger, the latter most usually a result of a drunken night out. Other top tattoo concepts include wings, crowns, pistols, fire, eagles, dolphins, pin-up girls, fish, dragons, and suns.  Cultural symbols are trendy as well.

Although I am a big tattoo fan I always advise against people running into tattoo parlor and demanding tattoo me now, as this can lead to problems later when you regret the design and it is too late. So make sure you get it right!
