Tattoo Your Tongue!
filed on Oct.05, 2009
Tattoos are very popular in the world today, with people from all walks of life choosing to have a tattoo, either discrete or way out there! Modern artists are becoming very creative both in the design, but also placement, and the inhibitions that used to exist seem to have gone. A recent trend that is emerging is something that a few years ago would seem too extreme – tattooing the tongue.
Tattoos are so much more popular these days than they used to be, with people from all walks of life choosing the lifestyle in varied degrees. There is a ton of information out there outlining the history and modern designs that modern artists are coming out with, with the trend not only being the style and color but the location! Which brings us to tongue tattoos…..
These aren’t {so common!that widespread} yet, but the groundswell is starting to build, with people either getting all or part of the tongue tattooed. This may take the form of getting the tongue recolored in say a purple, orange, black or blue, and some are choosing to be creative with design work.
Popular tongue tattoo designs include patterning, stars and tribal stripes, either near the tip or in the middle towards the rear of the throat. As more artists are asked to do them, they are becoming more and more inventive, with more and more designs being contemplated.
The actual tattooing process is always the same however, with the fast single reciprocating needle gun piercing the outer layer of skin and muscle and injecting the dyes and inks.
Obviously, as with all tattoos, do your soul searching before you take your seat in the chair…one has to wonder if a tongue tattoo would be in the slightest bit reversible!
People who have had tongue tattoos report that the pain of the process is nothing out of the ordinary… the tongue obviously is all muscle that becomes numb quite quickly. The feeling is described as a tickling, numbing sensation, and the artist will use a tool to pull the tongue out so he can see what he is doing ……once he has started, they normally dont take too long.
For those who might be interested in this, do the research and try to find an artist with some experience…this may be a bit of a task, as most will not have attempted one yet, which at least guarantees you some individuality. Very few people would have a tongue tattoo at this point, but dont be surprised if it becomes commonplace!
