The word nautical in Nautical Star Tattoos refers back to sailors. The word itself refers to things having to do with sailing so the connection is obvious. Many early sailors would navigate by using the stars at night. The North star was one thing in the sky that would allow the sailors to know where they were headed. Once the sailors knew where the north star was located, they could safely plan the trip back to where they were headed.
